1)  How does the REAL DRY™ System fit into my finished basement?
The all white virgin vinyl is perfectly suited to many basements, and if desired it can be painted to match any decor.  The REAL DRY™ System baseboard seepage control system is ideal for finished basements, replaces the conventional wood baseboard, and reclaims your living space

2)  How long does the REAL DRY™ System last?
There is no known breakdown to the REAL DRY™ System.  Since 1978, millions of feet of our system have been installed across the United States and Canada and are still keeping basements dry.  A properly installed REAL DRY™ System should last as long as your home.

3)  What if only part of my basement is wet?
One of the best features of the REAL DRY™ System is its flexibility.  The REAL DRY™ System can be installed only at the affected area, saving you money and trouble.

4)  How does the REAL DRY™ System work on uneven floors?
As water rises in the REAL DRY™ System, it flows naturally toward any low spot.  The water follows any small rise or fall of a couple inches or so, and as the water flows through the system, it falls through the drain hole into the floor drain or sump.

5)  How does the REAL DRY™ System get rid of mildew?
It can help.  The REAL DRY™ System neither creates nor solves mildew problems.  By keeping the stored articles in you basement dry, much mold and mildew can be prevented.  Humidity, which is caused by moist air entering a cooler basement, can also promote mold and mildew.  Use a dehumidifier to reduce airborne moisture.

6)  Where does the water go?
The REAL DRY™ System is drained to a floor drain or to a sump pump, which sits in a collector below the floor and lifts the water out of the basement.  Most cities do not allow ground water to be discharged into a floor drain, so a sump pump is usually installed if one is not already present.

7)  How long will it take to install my system?
The REAL DRY™ System can easily be installed in most homes in one or two days, but it all depends on the size of system you need.  A partial system in one area may be installed in as little as a few short hours, while a full system protecting an entire basement may take the better part of a weekend.  Of course, you could always recruit your spouse, son, or a friend to help speed along your system installation!

Back to the Questions

8)  What about carpet, tile, and vinyl floor coverings?
The REAL DRY™ System is the ideal solution for carpeted basements.  If the carpet has not been destroyed by years of water damage, enough of it can be moved or removed to provide clearance for the REAL DRY™ System.  Some carpets must be trimmed and replaced after the installation.
If vinyl flooring has survived past seepage, it should be trimmed about 2 1/2" from the wall before the REAL DRY™ System is installed.  Enough floor tile must be removed to allow the installation of the system.  This usually means one tile around the entire perimeter will be removed.

9)  How does the REAL DRY™ System work in brick or stone basements?
There are very few basements in North America that cannot be treated.  The only place we don't recommend the REAL DRY™ System is where the floor is in such poor condition that a new one is needed.

Back to the Questions

10)  How can the REAL DRY™ System be painted?
The REAL DRY™ System can be painted to match any decor.  Any high quality latex paint will work well, making the system an attractive addition to the basement, and reclaiming your living space.
